Welcome to Class 6. Our PE day is Monday. Please ensure that PE kits are kept in school and items are named. Homework will be given out weekly on a Friday and should be returned the following Wednesday. Spellings will be given out on a Monday and should be practised on an ongoing basis. The spellings link in with phonics and although there will not be a formal weekly spelling test, children will be expected to spell the words they have learnt correctly in all writing and will be asked to check their work. Reading books will be changed once a week if children are ready for a new book. Please ensure book bags are brought to school every day. The support that children receive from their families at home makes an incredible difference to their learning, so thank you in advance for this.
Our Theme this term is "Everybody's Building" with a focus on the buildings around Hessle and the Humber Bridge. In Science we are finding out about materials and their properties and learning how to sort them in different ways. We are also observing how plants grow and alter as the season changes and we are recording these observations in our class seasons book. We will be looking at plans and maps of our local area and learning how they work by making our own in Geography.
In English we will be learning stories and performing them as a class before writing our own "innovated" stories. The first story we have enjoyed learning is The Three Little Pigs. We have especially enjoyed pretending to be The Big Bad Wolf!
