Welcome to Class 7

Teacher: Miss Smith

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Sawyers

Our PE day is Friday. Please ensure that PE kits are kept in school and items are named. Homework will be given out weekly on a Friday and should be returned the following Wednesday.  Spellings will be given out on a Monday and should be practised on an ongoing basis.  The spellings link in with phonics and although there will not be a formal weekly spelling test, children will be expected to spell the words they have learnt correctly in all writing and will be asked to check their work.  Reading books will be changed once a week if children are ready for a new book.  Please ensure book bags are brought to school every day.  The support that children receive from their families at home makes an incredible difference to their learning, so thank you in advance for this.

Autumn Term

Our Theme this term was "Explorers" and we focused on Neil Armstrong and space.  In Science we learnt on an on-going basis about the natural world.  We observed how plants grow and change over the seasons and went on a mini-beast hunt around the school grounds.

In our English lessons we looked at poetry, information texts and stories about space and also Neil Armstrong.

Spring Term

The children have settled back in to Class 7 after their Christmas break and are enjoying learning about our new topics. In English, we are learning a new story 'The Gingerbread Man'and we have been practicing our story with actions. In Theme our focus is on toys and materials and we have been on a hunt around the school to look for objects made from different materials. We have been also been working hard in our independent learning time to 'Stick at it' and challenge ourselves!

Here are some photographs of children 'Sticking at it'

As part of our ongoing work on Seasons and weather, we went on a walk around the playground to spot signs of 'Winter'. Some of the children chose to do some writing about the seasons to add to our class 'Seasons book'.
